On some vehicles in the Volkswagen Audi group the sub-frame needs to be removed to service the suspension bushes‚when removing the clutch‚changing the engine‚servicing the wheels‚steering‚stabilizer bar or control arms.
Subframe locating pins are screwed into the sub-frame and used to guide it back into place once the task is complete. Care should be taken to bolt back diagonally and to the manufacturer's recommended torque.
